Melanoma Of The Skin

This tumour which generally arises in a benign mole which had sometimes been present since birth, shows its change to cancer by suddenly starting to grow, to deepen in colour, and/or bleed. Self-examination has been found to increase the success rate in Queensland from a 60 per cent (before the campaign started 15 years ago) to an 88 per cent five-year survival in man and 74 per cent survival in women.
