Aneurysm of the Aorta

In many patients over 60 years of age with high blood pressure, an ultrasound scan of the aorta (the body's main artery) will readily reveal abnormal enlargement due to weakness of its diseased walls and do so in time for surgical repair, thereby preventing a sudden rupture and fatal haemorrhage.
